SMITH
MOUNTAIN LAKE, VIRGINIA
(still 2019)
We
headed north again. Thank goodness because Florida is just too hot in August! We
went to a little house on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia that da daddy’s
brother and his family own. Da daddy painted the inside of the house, and I was
very happy because his back didn’t hurt him too bad. But at the end of each day
it hurt him, and he just wanted to sit in a comfy chair and watch TV. That’s
okay, because I liked lying on the floor next to him, or on the couch with da
mommy.
The
lake was GREAT! Da mommy took me for walks a couple of times every day and it
was nice and cool. We saw deer and squirrels, and it was hard not to chase
them. There was a dock that we walked out on, but I was totally confused because
I couldn’t figure out how to get to the water to get a drink or to swim. But
pretty soon we found a little beach where I could get in the water, and da
mommy would throw a stick for me to swim to and bring back. This place was
amazing! I wanted to stay there for a long time, or maybe forever!
Sunset from the boat. Of course, no dogs allowed.
A little nap on the great napping porch
After
a few days, guess who showed up! The little white dog, Henry! We played some,
and I tried to eat his food, but da mommy wouldn’t let me. She says I’m too
fat.
WHAT!?! I really love food. Henry’s mommy and daddy and their daughter are
super nice.Henry with his mom Tracey
After
a few more days me and da daddy drove da mommy to the Appalachian Trail where
she put on her backpack and starting hiking. I was sad and worried because I
don't really understanding time. She said, “I’ll see you in a few days.” I
don’t understand the difference between a few minutes, a few days, and a few weeks. They
all seem kind of the same to me. All I know is I don’t like it when da mommy
leaves like that, no matter how long it is.
Mommy
hiked for four days while me and da daddy stayed at the lake house. Then me and
Daddy checked into Stony Fork Campground near Wytheville, Virginia, in the
mountains, in the forest. It was nice and cool there, and it was a great place
for walks. We picked up da mommy from the trail and brought her back to the campground, where
we stayed for a few days. Da mommy said she would love to go back there and
stay for a week or so. I agree!
